Every screen¶
2 screens.
The frame — menus, search and recent records¶
the bar across the top
The bar that never changes: the menus on the left, the search box, the clock, and Log Out.
What you see¶
The menus you see depend on your role. Hovering one opens it; the items inside are grouped by the work they belong to.
The search box finds two different things and shows them under separate headings. Go to finds screens — type what you want to do rather than the name of the menu item, and each result shows where it lives, for example "Reports › Receivables & payables". Records finds actual customers, items and documents by number.
You can only find screens you are allowed to open, so a search that finds nothing is usually a permissions answer rather than a missing screen.
The clock symbol lists the documents you have opened recently.
Rules this screen enforces¶
- Prefixing a search with a record type keeps navigation out of the way: cus: for customers, ven: for vendors, item: for items, so: inv: po: for documents.
- A screen missing from your menu is a permissions question for an administrator. Permissions belong to the role, never to the person.
The confirmation dialog¶
appears over whatever you are doing
The second look before something that cannot be taken back. Thirty-four buttons across the system now open it.
What you see¶
A card over a grey backdrop. It names the document, then the party and the amount, then — where it matters — the consequence in an orange band.
It never says "are you sure". It reads the figures back, because that is what stops the wrong row being approved: Approve PO-000412? Kibble Supplies Pte Ltd · SGD 24,070.12.
Buttons¶
| Button | When you can use it | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Cancel | Always. It has the keyboard focus when the dialog opens. | Closes the dialog. Nothing is sent. |
| (the action) | Always. Labelled with the action — Approve, Ship all, Post the journal — and coloured red when the action destroys something. | Does the thing, once. |
Rules this screen enforces¶
- Escape cancels. Clicking outside the card cancels. Neither can ever confirm — a stray click outside a dialog must not be able to post anything.
- Focus lands on Cancel, not on the action, so somebody holding Enter down from the button they just pressed cannot carry it through.
- Six buttons deliberately do not use it — Scan pick, Put away, Build carton, Mark Done, Unlock and Unlock now. Those run once per line, per pallet, per carton, all day; a dialog on each trains the reflex that makes every other confirmation worthless.
